UEL Aim To Rebound Against Defending Champions

Kieran Baldwin previews a tough encounter for Premier League newcomers UEL

University of East London men’s 1st team travel to Hartpury as the East Londoners look to get their first win of the new season.

It’s been a tough start to life in the Premier League South for manager Yassin Abidou and his young squad. After two games UEL find themselves sitting bottom of the table after suffering consecutive defeats.

Their previous loss was particularly hard to take as Cardiff Metropolitan 1st team took all three points after a late free-kick meant UEL lost 3-2 at Hackney Marshes.

UEL opponent’s on Wednesday, Hartpury College 1st team, are defending champions after taking the title on goal difference last season, beating The University of Wales to the crown.

The team from Gloucester have had mixed fortunes so far in their league campaign. They lost their first two fixtures but picked up a valuable away win at Chichester University, winning 3-1.

Wednesday’s test will certainly be another tough game for UEL. A win could see them move up a couple of places and solidify their spot in the Premier South.
