As we come to the end of a lengthy break without any competition, this hopefully will give us the drive and determination to complete the league season. Our next two games will be at SportsDock which will come as a positive for the team.

We face the same Queen Mary side in which we were able to overcome last time out with one less player as we aim to fight off relegation. With the table looking how it is at this current moment I am confident that this team of players will not be relegated and we will stay up.

Rest and Recuperation

With a lengthy time off from competitive play, we have still trained hard in order to maintain our fitness. Staying motivated with no game was a challenge but one look at the league table drove us on in order to stay healthy and prepare for the next game.

Although training was difficult at times, as a team we know it is crucial to improve ourselves as athletes and players but also as a team. Staying a team in this period is important for our togetherness

Being friends with each other and having spent so much time together on the road has enabled us to become close with each other on a friendship level. Especially with Josh, Marco and I as we have played together for the duration of the three years I have been at UEL.

It was crucial to rest and not pick up unnecessary injuries as that could be vital to the rest of the season. Preparation is key as it determines whether we stay up at the end of the season and as captain I have full faith in my coach and teammates in order to do what we need to do.

Emotions

This was the last lengthy break before my doubles partner Marco Eng, my teammate Josh Teoh and myself will have before leaving the university. These will be the final three games that the three of us will play at SportsDock.

Playing both Queen Mary sides in our division in our final two home games, provides an extra motivation as we see these games as winnable to stay in the division.

Having been captain myself for the last two years, it will be an emotional moment once the last point is played at SportsDock. It will be an emotional rollercoaster as we play our last game knowing we will not again represent UEL in a home game again.
