UEL Face Uphill Battle

UEL Men’s 1st Badminton team will compete against the all-conquering UCL 3rd (RUMS) Men’s Badminton team this Wednesday as they aim to stop the side that has won all of their seven fixtures this season, writes Elliott Fletcher.

The showdown will take place at the Somerstown Community Sports Centre and the form guide suggests UEL are in for a difficult day.

Despite that UEL’s Ali Chin says “there have been visible improvements in training and I am confident in myself to perform at the highest possible level and to help the team in our efforts to stay up.”

The East London-based team have managed to win just one in their last five matches whilst UCL have a perfect record.

UEL currently occupy fifth place with four points in the BUCS Badminton South Eastern 4B table.

Solidify

Their hosts are sat first in the table with 21 points, and will be looking to solidify their stronghold on the division whilst UEL will be looking to make further strides to avoid relegation.

The UEL team will need all the encouragement it can possibly get as they prepare for a daunting fixture as they aim to rack up the points and avoid the drop.

Chin added, “Whilst outsiders may see this season as a failure, we are building a team for the future and that takes time and patience.

“To be able to stay in the division with a new team is regarded as a success in my opinion. We hope to build next on this for next season.”

Whilst the two teams have different motives to win this encounter, both UEL and UCL will be hoping to collect a victory to help to achieve their targets for this season.

The spectators can expect a badminton match full of drama and competitive action.
