After a troublesome start to the league campaign, Kingston University’s no-show means that UEL’s cup campiagn began with a walk over.

After 45 minutes of waiting for their opponents, UEL claimed the victory as Kingston’s time limit ran out of time to start the game. Captain Ali Chin was disappointed with Kingston not showing up and said: “it’s always nice to get to the next round but it would have been more satisfying if we had played and won.”

It is a great shame that the game could not go ahead for UEL as they have had a tough start to the season. This would have given players more playing time together, which would have helped preparation for their next league game.

The East London side are in a relegation battle and Chin is not going to let a cup run distract his side from their main objective which is staying up: “Obviously it would be good for a cup run but the main objective is for us to stay in the league.”

UEL will be back on court training hard together to make sure that they are ready for their next game which is against Queen Mary 2nd team.
