UEL Put Unbeaten Home Record On The Line

UEL Men’s Badminton team are set to face top of the table Imperial Medics 4th team in their first home game of the season. George Geaves reports.

UEL will be aiming to bounce back with a win and get their first three points on the board. Their first game of the season ended in a narrow 5-3 defeat away to City University. This ended their unbeaten run from last season’s successful season whereas Imperial go into the game on the back of a 6-2 win over Queen Mary 2nds.

Home form will be key for UEL this year as they aim to avoid relegation from the South Eastern 3B. In last season’s triumphant campaign UEL were invincible at home, winning all their games at the Sportsdock, not losing a match there since 2015.

UEL and Jamaican International Sean Wilson was a catalyst for the side’s success last year. There are noticeable absentees for UEL this year as a large proportion of last year’s victorious side have graduated.

Captain Ali Chin, Sean Wilson and Joshua Teoh are all still available for UEL and form a strong spine of the team. New players will be eager to make an instant impact and continue the progress that was made last season.

Imperial Medics 4th team will provide a stern test for the East London side but the East Londoners remain confident in their ability to pull off an upset. With a win, it will surely kick-start UEL’s season into life.
