Shella Tshela reviews another dominant performance from The University Of East London Women’s side as they run out 41-0 winners against UCL.

Going into this game on the back of an 8-0 win against Hertfordshire women’s 2nd team, UEL were full of confidence and this certainly showed as they put in a sensational performance to progress into the next round of the cup. .

Despite a great start for the UCL team, it did seem that they had a lack of communication and  UEL  were quick to recognise this and took advantage of the situation, looking very dangerous when going forward.

In the first minute of the first half UEL did have a couple of missed chances, coming closest when they hit the post.

UEL didn’t have to wait too long after to open the score-line. When Teesh converted from a corner kick, the midfielder’s header proving too much for UCL’s goalkeeper and ended up in the back of the net.

That proved to be the start of UEL’s dominance as the floodgates opened. The ladies were able to find the net twice more before 10 minutes had passed..

The gulf in class then began to show as UEL pushed on to give themselves a 15-0 lead by half-time. Several players completed their hat-tricks as Rinsola Babajide scored a spectacular total of 14 goals and Otesha Luletta scored a impressive 11 goals respectively.

Alexandra Ramos scored a hat-trick to add to her four assists that she picked up throughout the game. UEL’s Daisy Davis also managed to notch a hat-trick as UEL showed little sign of easing up on their opponents.

In the second half of the game UEL were awarded a penalty as UCL were penalised for a handball, fortunately for UCL’s goalkeeper, the penalty kick wasn’t to be converted.

Despite this missed chance, UEL continued to dominate in a second half that saw them grab another 25 goals to make for a more than satisfying 41-0 scoreline.

There were of course other scorers to make up the 41 goals to nil scoreline, they were as follows.

Leah Marshall (2), Ellie Paris (2), Katie Donahue (3), Lilli Maple (2) Lauren Healy (1)

At the end of the match, the UEL women’s team captain stated:

“We are all just happy with the result at the moment and we will keep working hard to keep improving and getting great results.’’

Things are looking very promising going into the rest of the season for the UEL’s women team, with heavy line up of fixtures in December. The Ladies will be hoping to keep this great run of form for the rest of the season.

Next week UEL travel to Buckinghamshire New University Womens 1st as they look to extend there lead at the top.
