Valentine’s Day? Carrot And Figs To All That!

Miss Carrot

Our very own Miss Carrot prepares Rising East readers for the culinary side of Valentine’s on February the Fourteenth.

They say that the two greatest pleasures are food and sex, so why not combine these two for your big V-Day?

I have listed below some ‘did you know?’ ingredients, which I happen to know are all part of the aphrodisiac family (surely the fastest-breeding foods on the planet). Whether you decide to dine in a restaurant or cook dinner yourself, make sure that some of these are on the menu (and yes, shape does matter):

  • Asparagus – This one is not only about the phallic shape, there’s a substance in asparagus which will also boost histamine production – an absolute necessity when it comes to reaching orgasm. I realize this is quick to the point. But, hey, we only have one Valentine’s night a year.
  • Chili – No wonder chili is part of the aphrodisiac family; this hot spice will set any dish on fire. And when you’re on fire, you…
  • Oyster – A nutritious marine delicacy which the Romans first classified as an aphrodisiac. Aside from the resemblance to female genitals, I would say anything you need to use your hands for is sensual… well, almost.
  • Figs – Ah… speaking of female organs. Let’s skip the anatomical analysis, shall we? Just make sure to eat these beauties with your hands. Again.

  • Champagne – Let the celebrations begin! Champagne is not only the absolute festive drink; it’s bubbly and will get your mood going. Champagne is sexy, full stop.
  • Sea Fennel – Used to enhance libido during the age of the Pharaohs; identified since as a source of plant estrogens. Enough said.
  • Carrot – This phallus-shaped vegetable is high in vitamins and beta-carotene. Famously stimulating to the male organ. And who doesn’t like carrots?

  • Basil – If you go Italian, don’t forget this green herb. It’s not only tasty with your spaghetti, it is also said to boost fertility and get the sex drive going.
  • Chocolate – Melted, in cakes, with truffles – have it any way you like, since chocolate is sensual whatever the form. No wonder it was referred to by the Aztecs as the ‘nourishment of the Gods’. Take some chocolate with a glass of red and reach maximum passion!
  • Honey – Mmm, so sweet. Of course it’s a member of the aphrodisiac family. Perhaps ‘honeymoon’ rings a bell?
  • Coffee – This dark bean will stimulate both your body and your mind. Make sure that you serve your dessert with a shot of espresso! If the conversation lacks sparkle at least it will keep you wide awake and ready to move on to finer things!

We just made Valentine a bit more interesting, didn’t we?

If you’re afraid that your culinary expertise might be unable to rise to the big occasion, not to worry! My next article will guide you to some of the most romantic restaurants in East London. Yes, I have checked their menus and their ingredients are guaranteed to live up to my aphrodisiac list.

Whether dining in or out, have an absolutely seductive Valentine!
