Victory Needed To Guarantee Promotion

Teri Dormer previews a must win match for UEL Men's Tennis 2nds

University of East London men’s 2nd are home to Queen Mary University of London Men’s 2nd at  Lee Valley Tennis & Hockey Centre, Queen Elizabeth Park for a 2:00pm start.

East London are only three points behind UCL who currently hold the final promotion spot with an overall of three wins and three losses.

Unfortunately, due to previous results, UEL are not fighting for the title but they are able to secure promotion if they win their last two games of the season.

Preparation is Key

The last time these two teams played back in January, UEL suffered a huge 12-0 defeat. The boys are not going to let that hold them back on Wednesday and are very much up for the match as UEL tennis scholar, Seb Kay revealed:

“I don’t focus on who we are playing, I just focus on myself and how to prepare for a match.”

Kay believes that preparation is key in order for him to perform his best. He doesn’t want to focus on the rival team but instead his personal performance.

The team’s main focus is having a victorious final two matches to secure promotion. “We are hoping for that,” says Kay.

Confident Approach

During the last match against Queen Mary’s, UEL struggled with a few injuries and absences, “We didn’t have our strongest team possible, hopefully we won’t have any absences but instead have the team we are confident that we can win with.”

Queen Mary’s have a total of 17 points this season, having won five matches, drawn two and only one loss. Their biggest victory to date was against the East London.
