Walker Catches Prize

The fans’ player of the season was announced at Thamesmead Town after Saturday’s final match, as experienced keeper Andy Walker took this year’s accolade, reports Casey Cooper-Fiske.

Walker has been ever present for the Mead this season keeping 19 clean sheets and played a massive part in Mead’s playoff challenge. Walker has also shown great leadership in temporary charge of the side after Terry Spillane’s recent departure. There has been no indication on whether Walker will be applying for the job on a full time basis.

Other Thamesmead standout players were midfielder Jay Porter, top goalscorer Theo Fairweather-Johnson, and Richard Butler.

The young players’ player of the year was won by Laurent Mendy who impressed against Brightlingsea Regent, as he looks to force his way into first-team plans.
