Farida Ahmed reports on the Nigerian Muslims Forum.

The Nigerian Muslims Forum recently held its annual general meeting in West Ham. It was announced that the organisation had raised £42,826.16 for charitable causes.

The forum is subdivided into three committees – education, health, orphans – which are responsible for fund raising in their particular area.

The education committee supplies books to schoolchildren in Nigeria, and subsidises parents who cannot afford school uniforms. They also help with school fees and accommodation.

The health committee claims to have helped 10 000 people by supplying free medication and facilities for minor surgery.

Accommodation, schooling, medical treatment and clean water are all offered by the orphans committee.

The Nigerian Muslim Forum continues to appeal for urgently needed funds.

The annual general meeting was addressed by the Amir Dr Abdulahi Ahmed, who thanked everyone present for their continued support and explained how the money raised would be used in Nigeria.
