Young Hammers Pushing for Playoffs

Dean Ammi previews West Ham United U23s upcoming game at the London Stadium.

West Ham United U23s continue their promotion push this Tuesday night as they host Stoke U23s at the London Stadium in another important Premier League 2 clash.

The young Hammers are currently in fifth position, with just four league matches remaining in this campaign. The opponents, Stoke City, sit in 11th place, so Terry Westley will be looking to gain another three points to secure their play-off place.

Current Form

New signing Nathan Holland has been in fantastic form as of late, with the attacking midfielder scoring three goals in his last four matches for the East London side. Top scorer Toni Martinez is still unavailable for selection whilst he completes a loan spell at Oxford United.

A win for West Ham would see them rise up to third place in the table. This will be the side’s second encounter in Stratford, after seeing off Fulham in a 2-0 win at the same ground last month.

Reverse Fixture

Stoke on the other hand have won just three Premier League 2 games out of 16, and are languishing near the bottom of the division. They have won just one of their last five games.

These two sides previously met back in August in the reverse fixture, where it was West Ham who came out on top in a comfortable 3-0 win. Ashley Fletcher was on the scoresheet that day, and he will be looking to cause the youthful Potters more problems once again.

The claret-and-blue side are unbeaten at home in 2017. Kick-off on Tuesday 7th March is at 7pm.
