  • Hundreds took part in 5k untimed run over Olympic Park
  • Runners doused in colour powder during ‘happiest 5k on the planet’
  • Part of series of events across more than 30 countries

There was a colourful haze across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday when hundreds completed the Colour Run – an untimed five kilometre run in which runners are doused in a different colour powder at each kilometre.

At one point on Sunday afternoon yellow mist caught the late summer sun and rained down on the faces of cheerful, cheering runners.

‘Just brilliant’, screeched the She-Ra sisters, who explained they had never raced before but were thoroughly enjoying this one.

Final Jasmine Pic Colour Run

Billed as the ‘happiest 5k on the planet’, the Colour Run has no age restrictions, allowing parents – experienced runners and first-timers alike – to take part alongside their children.

The first Colour Run took place in 2012; it is now being run in 30 countries.

Sunday’s event was sponsored by Dulux. Families and friends joined the Colour Festival hosted by Capital FM having completed the 5k route.
