Charlton Athletic host AFC Wimbledon at The Valley on Saturday in a south London derby.

The Addicks come into the game on the back of two straight wins, the most recent of which came on Monday night at Fratton Park as Charlton beat Portsmouth 2-1, and manager Johnnie Jackson is keen to build on the good mood in camp.

‘We Can Beat Anyone’

Speaking to Charlton’s official website, the boss said: “I’m confident with my team and where we are at on the back of a really good performance on Monday. If we can keep those levels of performance I feel like we can beat anyone in the league playing that way. We’ll be trying to stamp our authority on the game, especially being at home.”

“As always, when you do win a game it transforms the mood around the training ground. Obviously there’s been smiles on faces and a bit of a bounce over the last few days.”

Winless Wimbledon

Charlton currently sit in 15th position, six points above the visitors. Meanwhile, AFC Wimbledon are without a win in 10 games across all games and have drawn six of their last seven in the league.

As a result they currently occupy 20th position, one spot above the relegation zone but with a game in hand over the teams below them, though Jackson is not underestimating the challenge his side faces.

“They haven’t won in a while, but they do make it difficult to be beaten,” he said.

“They’ve got some bright, young, energetic players that, if you’re not on it, can cause you problems. Like every team in the league, they will pose us challenges and it’s up to us to figure that out.”
