Alex Lynn is ready and raring to go as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to Saudi Arabia for the Diriyah ePrix double header on the 26th and 27th February.

It’s been nearly half a year since we last had a Formula E race after the 2019/20 season was finished with six races in nine days at Berlin.

Last Season

Antonio Felix de Costa was the champion in what can only be described as a dominate performance. He finished the season on 158 points, nearly double than that of his closest competitor, Stoffel Vandoorne who finished on 87.

Local driver Lynn returns to action with Mahindra Racing after stepping in for the outgoing Pascal Wehrlein halfway through last season. It took a few races for Lynn to get used to the Gen2 car again, eventually scoring points in his last three races and gaining a highest finishing position of fifth in round 10.

Although Lynn has had some prior Formula E experience, he hasn’t had the easiest of times in the series and is yet to taste podium glory. His greatest moment in the sport so far was achieving pole during the 2016/17 New York City ePrix. Unfortunately, a car failure meant he was unable to change that pole to a race win.

Lynn Wants Points

Looking ahead to the upcoming race weekend, Lynn knows that this season is going to be highly competitive, as it is every year in Formula E, but is also excited to get the season up and running.

“Diriyah is going to be very competitive, as it always is in Formula E. I’ve been putting a huge amount of preparation time, both in terms of working with the team and on myself.

“I’ve been spending a lot of time learning the track and ensuring I know the little nuances of it, to know what it takes to go fast around there. I’m excited to get the season started and expect to be fighting for some good points.” stated Lynn.

He’ll also have his new teammate to contend with, London-born Alexander Sims.

Sims was victorious the last time the Formula E circus travelled to Saudi Arabia and Lynn will be hoping he can match that victory and bring back some glory to Mahindra Racing after a two-year winless streak.
