The Driver Era – an American sibling duo comprising Rocky and Ross Lynch – recently opened their long-awaited tour of the UK and Europe to a sold-out crowd at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.

The band name sounded familiar, and I knew lead singer Ross Lynch from his time starring in the Disney Channel series Austin & Ally. Although I didn’t know a single song from his band, I decided to go to the concert after I saw some of their American and Australian tour on TikTok.

On entering the venue we went straight to the bar to get a drink and found the brothers  chilling with their crew and family. After we had paid for our drinks, I not only managed to talk to Ross but got a selfie taken with him too. I wished him “Good luck for the show”, and he replied, “Thank you guys, I hope you enjoy it.”

My friend and I were both a bit starstruck by meeting a guy we both remembered from the Disney Channel show that we loved so much when we were younger. It took us about 15 minutes to actually realise what had just happened as we walked back to the venue to find our seats and wait for the show to begin.

At 9.15 pm The Driver Era opened with their song Take Me Away from the 2021 album Girlfriend, which featured Ross on keys. Both singers had the fans in the palms of their hands: Rocky with his masterly guitar solos and Ross by making everyone freak out to his sexy dance moves.

The up-beat and elevating sound made me feel overjoyed, and sent the whole crowd crazy. Girls and boys were screaming so loud that my ears hurt, and I felt dizzy. Ross Lynch grabbed all the gifts thrown on stage that he could get, including a feather boa, cowboy hat and sunglasses. But he did lose his jacket, beanie and even his shirt!

Both brothers are very talented, and for a band I hadn’t even listened to, they still managed to make me scream and sing along to their songs with everyone else in the audience.

In fact I even bought tickets for their second London show the day after, so that I coud feel that energy again.

The two brothers are touring the UK and Europe until November 9th and you can find more about the tour dates on their website.
