Millwall travel to the Liberty Stadium this Saturday as they take on Swansea City.

The Lions are still in search of their first away win in this season’s league campaign. Swansea, meanwhile, currently occupy a spot in the playoff places, sitting in fourth having picked up eight wins in their first 16 league games this season

Last time out

The South Londoners go into Saturday’s game 15th in the Sky Bet Championship after Matt Smith’s late stoppage-time winner secured all three points for the Lions against Charlton Athletic at The Den.

The Swans drew 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday last time out thanks to Ben Wilmot’s last-minute equaliser after Morgan Fox initially thought he had given the hosts all three points in the first minute of stoppage time.

Swans at home

Swansea won their first three home games in the league this season, but since then have went on to lose three, draw one and win one. Out of a possible 24 points at home, they have picked up 13. The Swans have picked up three more points away from home in the same amount of league games – one reason why they aren’t occupying one of the automatic promotion places.

Ayew ready for Lions visit

Andre Ayew – who is the Swans joint top goal scorer so far this season with six goals – has insisted that his team must be ready for the challenge both ‘physically and mentally.’

“It’s very hectic in the Championship. You need to be ready for it – physically and mentally – and must always be willing to do more and more,” Ayew told the Swansea City official website.

“It’s going to be a hard game but, with the quality we have, I’m confident we can get a result. Of course, it’s very important that we take one game at a time, but we must aim to get a couple of good results as that will set us up nicely.”

Thompson wary of Swans Challenge

The Lions haven’t won away in the league all season, having picked up four draws and four losses from their eight away games so far – that’s just four points out of a possible 24 gained.

Millwall midfielder Ben Thompson told the official club website: “The international break has as ever given us time on the training pitch to evaluate and work on a few things. We’ve looked at our shape, the tactical and technical sides of our game, and it’s really been something we need.

“The biggest focus is to work on our away form – that really is key. It’s not been great, and to fix that would really push us up the table.

“Swansea present us with another opportunity to improve our away record, but they’re a big club and a big challenge – what a game it could be for us, that’s how we see it. The fans will travel in their numbers and it will be a good occasion for us.”

Previous meetings

In their 48 previous meetings, it’s Swansea who hold the upper hand with 20 wins, 10 draws and 18 losses in the head-to-head. The Swans are unbeaten in the club’s previous four meetings with the Lions last winning at the Liberty Stadium on the 7th March 2008, when they ran out 2-1 winners.
