Charlton Athletic will be hoping for yet another win when they host Fleetwood Town at The Valley on Tuesday night (7pm).

Lee Bowyer’s men extended their winning streak to five games when they defeated Portsmouth 2-0 on Saturday, thanks to a first Addicks goal for Jonny Williams and a superb header from substitute Chuks Aneke.

The Addicks finish October unbeaten having taken 16 points from a possible 18, with another dominant defensive display on the south coast meaning Bowyer’s men have now gone nine hours without conceding a goal.

Fleetwood are enjoying a three-match winning streak themselves, defeating Oxford United 2-0 on Saturday with goals from Callum Camps and Paddy Madden.

Joey Barton’s side currently sit in ninth place in League One, three points behind the Addicks who also have a game in hand on the Cod Army.

Team News

Ryan Inniss and Ben Watson are both available again after serving their one-match bans on Saturday afternoon, while Marcus Maddison could also return to Lee Bowyer’s bench after sitting out on the south coast due to a persistent ankle problem.

Tuesday’s fixture should come too soon for Norwich City loanee Akin Famewo, with the defender awaiting the results of a scan to learn more about the hamstring injury he sustained against Pompey.

The Addicks will remain without quartet Jason Pearce (knee), Deji Oshilaja (foot), Alex Gilbey (achilles) and Alfie Doughty (hamstring).

The visitors will be without long-term absentee Joel Coleman (hamstring), while Jordan Rossiter and Sam Stubbs are also doubts for Joey Barton’s side.

Head-To-Head

Charlton and Fleetwood have met on six occasions, the Addicks winning one and the Cod Army one, with the remaining four games ending in draws.

The last meeting between the two sides came in February 2019 in an encounter which saw Fleetwood run out as 1-0 winners after a second-half strike from Ched Evans. Addicks defender Patrick Bauer was sent off that day as the German picked up two yellow cards.

Fleetwood are yet to win in three visits to The Valley, with all those meetings between the two sides finishing in draws. Their most recent visit to SE7 ended goalless in August 2018.

Ones To Watch

Jonny Williams

The Wales international netted his first Addicks goal at Fratton Park on Saturday after Ian Maatsen’s volleyed cross found Williams who fired home from inside the six-yard box.

Lee Bowyer has made no secret of the fact that he told his squad on Friday morning at Sparrows Lane that the 27-year-old was going to open his Charlton account against Pompey when speaking in his post-match interview.

The former Crystal Palace man was deployed in the number-10 position on the south coast to great success, showcasing his natural ability to play there for Bowyer’s side and Williams will now be hoping to kick on after waiting 53 games for his first Addicks goal.

Ched Evans

The 31-year-old has scored twice in his last three League One appearances, netting in stoppage-time at Gillingham and scoring the only goal in his side’s meeting with Shrewsbury Town.

Evans scored the winner the last time the Addicks faced Fleetwood and the former Welsh international certainly knows where the goal is at this level.

The striker has scored 31 goals in 79 league appearances for the Cod Army.
