Ben Garner’s Addicks will be looking to build on from last weekend’s draw away at Burton Albion as they travel to Vale Park on Saturday, locking horns with newly-promoted Port Vale.

Charlton head into Saturday’s clash unbeaten in their last five, with 2 draws in the league and three victories in cup competitions.

Last Game

Their previous outing resulted in a six-goal thriller at the Pirelli Stadium last Saturday. The Addicks went two goals ahead after Charlie Kirk netted a brace within the opening forty minutes, bagging his second with a beautifully weighted dink over the keeper.

The visitors’ celebrations were cut short as former Charlton centre-half Deji Oshilaja pulled one back for the hosts from a Terry Taylor set piece just moments after.

Things turned from bad to worse for the Addicks as the Brewers drew level on the stroke of half-time, with poor defending from Charlton as the ball was rifled across the box into the path of Adeboyejo.

His miss-controlled touch fell into the path of Tom Hamer, who chested the ball down and rifled his volleyed effort into the back of the net.

Just 13 minutes after the restart, the hosts had taken the lead. That man Adeboyejo involved again as he received the ball halfway into the Charlton half, the centre-forward worked his way into a bit of space before thundering past MacGillivray with an unstoppable strike.

Charlton drew level with 14 minutes to play, Ben Garner sending on super-sub Chuks Aneke who collected the ball on the touchline before sending a lofted pass through the Burton defence and into the path of Rak-Sakyi.

The 20-year-old had little time to think but coolly netted with another chip over Sinisalo in the Burton goal, snatching a point on the road for the Addicks.

Injury News

Charlton will be missing Ghanaian international Joe Wollacott after he sustained a broken finger during the warmup ahead of the Burton Albion clash. This is devastating news for the Charlton shot-stopper who was set to feature for Ghana in Qatar next week as they make their World Cup debut against Portugal.

The Opposition

Saturday’s opponents currently sit in 15th place in the Sky Bet League One table, just one point behind Charlton heading into the weekend.

Darrell Clarke’s side are winless in their last three in all competitions and will be looking to bounce back from their 4-0 defeat at the hands of Oxford last weekend.

Two braces from Matty Taylor and Billy Bodin separated the sides as the Valiants travelled back to Stoke-on-Trent empty-handed.

Player To Watch

Ellis Harrison has been Port Vale’s standout performer so far this season. The prolific centre-forward has netted seven goals in 17 outings in the league, and his seven strikes see him sit joint seventh in the league rankings.

The Welshman reconnected with Darrel Clarke as he signed permanently for Vale in August this year. The Newport-born striker previously played under his current gaffer during his time with Bristol Rovers, playing a vital role in their return to the Football League in 2015.
