Charlton return to Sky Bet League One action after the international break on Good Friday when they travel north to take on play-off rivals Doncaster Rovers live on Sky Sports (12:30 kick-off).

The Addicks go into the game six unbeaten, just two points adrift of the final play-off spot and Doncaster, who are without a win in five under interim manager Andy Butler – drawing two of those.

Rovers were narrowly beaten at MK Dons last time out courtesy of Daniel Harvie’s 76th minute strike, leaving them in 7th place with 11 games to play.

Team News

In-form Charlton forward Conor Washington is ruled out with the hamstring problem sustained just five minutes into the south London derby at Plough Lane, while defensive duo Adam Matthews and Ryan Inniss both appear set to return having featured for 61 minutes during the behind-closed-doors friendly with Brentford B at Sparrows Lane last Thursday.

The hosts will be without long-term absentees Jon Taylor (ankle) and Tyreece John-Jules (hamstring), who are joined on the injury table by Southampton loanee Josh Sims (glute) – the 24-year-old has returned to the south coast to be assessed by his parent club.

Opposition Player To Watch

James Coppinger

The 40-year-old, who arrived in south Yorkshire from Exeter City in 2004 for £30,000, is a Rovers cult hero, and rightly so, having recorded over 600 league appearances in the red and white hoops and notching 66 goals.

This season, his 17th at the club, is set to be the final chapter of his Doncaster fairytale though that certainly hinges on what division Rovers are in come August.

Coppinger continues to silence all ideals surrounding age in football as he aims to add a fourth promotion to his Doncaster CV, and Rovers’ number 26 remains central to their attacking prowess this term, with a role to play in each of their last four goals, boasting a goal and three assists.

Head-to-Head

Charlton have met Doncaster on 16 previous occasions with the Addicks winning eight, Rovers six and the remaining two resulting in draws.

The reverse fixture at The Valley in September saw Doncaster run out 3-1 winners, with goals from Madger Gomes and Tyreece John-Jules either side of Charlie Barker’s own goal, before Washington’s consolation strike in the 67th minute.

Charlton’s last visit to the Keepmoat Stadium came in May 2019 in what was the first leg of the play-off semi-finals.

Two goals in as many minutes from Lyle Taylor and Joe Aribo put the Addicks in the ascendancy, but Matty Blair halved the deficit for the hosts three minutes from time.
