Second-place Shrewsbury Town visit The Valley to face play-off hopefuls Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The League One sides have yet to meet this season following the postponement of their last two previously scheduled matches against one and other. The clash has been designated as Charlton’s annual Football for a Fiver promotion, with all tickets in the ground priced at £5.

Charlton will have gained confidence following their 2-1 win away at MK Dons last weekend, pushing them back into the final play-off place.

Returning Man

The Addicks will be boosted further by the news that winger Tariqe Fosu is in contention to make his return to the match-day squad. The return of Fosu will be welcome in SE7, his influence has been unquestionable with seven goals in 20 League One appearances so far this campaign.

Ongoing injuries to Lewis Page and Stephy Mavididi will continue to rule the duo out of contention, whilst Patrick Bauer is a doubt, having gone off injured against MK Dons.

Shrewsbury, on the other hand will be hoping to get back to winning ways after losing two out of their last three contests, including a loss to a resurgent Plymouth Argyle side – a team Charlton themselves will be keeping an eye on after the Pilgrims have embarked on a five match winning streak, finding themselves just one point behind Charlton.

Off-field Affairs

Away from the playing side of proceedings, Charlton still remain up for sale by owner Roland Duchâtelet after consistent fan protests and pressure have marred the Belgians time at the club. Former Rangers director Donald Muir and current Scotland manager Alex McLeish attempted to purchase the club last week, but claim Duchâtelet was looking for “too much”.
