A first half goal from Zack Newton was cancelled out by a 28th minute penalty from Brad Warner, as Cheshunt and Bowers shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night.

Cheshunt boss, Craig Edwards made 3 changes from the weekends defeat to Worthing, with young goalkeeper, Max Huxter being handed his first league start for the club.

Fresh Line Up

Taylor McKenzie and Joe Re come into the starting line-up for Mark Hughes and Taylor Miles, with the former starting for The Ambers in the league for the first time since December.

Bowers handed a debut to new full back, Toib Adiyemi while their dangerman Brad Warner started up top, who was looking to add to his 16 goals already this season.

The game got underway and the visitors went straight through after some good work by Lewis Manor, who went down in the area but saw his appeal for a penalty waved away, shortly after, Manor again was tripped in the box but again the referee waved play on.

Penalty Denied

The Ambers ventured forward down the left, with fullback Tanasheh Abrahams winning the ball in the corner, and whipping a delicious cross which went all the way across to his opposite fullback, Ibs Diallo who strode onto the ball and struck a sweet right foot effort which was diverted just wide by the boot of Bowers fullback Thomas Stephen.

The Ambers kept the pressure on, and it was their turn to have a penalty appeal to be waved away, as Reece Beckles-Richards seemed to be taken out by goalkeeper Callum Chafer, but the referee saw ‘nothing doing’ and waved play on.

Cheshunt’s spell of pressure finally told when the clock struck 18 minutes.

Joe Re picked the ball up in the middle and found Zack Newton, who ball-rolled past one defender before unleashing an outside of the foot effort into the top right corner to give Cheshunt the lead, (1-0, 18 mins).

Missed Chances

Bowers responded well, as Jamie Dicks floated a corner in, but a combination of a Cheshunt defender and inadvertently, Bowers’ Callum Leahy keeps the ball out.

The visitors weren’t to be denied for long as Quentin Monvile broke into the box and was brought down by Mo Camara.

The referee pointed to the spot, and Brad Warner stepped up and calmly slotted past Huxter to draw the visitor’s level (1-1 27 mins).

Sean Cronin had the final chance of the first half for the hosts, flicking over from a Joe Re cross.

The Visitors started the second 45 like they did the first, on the front foot, with more good work by Quentin Monvile as he drilled the ball across the box but Toib Adiyemi couldn’t hit the target.

Ryan Moss had Cheshunt’s first chance of the half, having his effort blocked by Callum Leahy after Beckles-Richards floated in the corner.

Another penalty appeal was waved away for the hosts, as Beckles-Richards appeared to be brought down as he entered the box, much to the frustration of the home supporters behind the goal.

Super Saves

As the game ticked into the final 10 minutes, and the hosts looking more likely, Norman Wabo was introduced in place of Ryan Moss to try and take advantage of Bowers tired legs.

Wabo was thrown into the action straight away, getting onto the end of another delicious cross from Abrahams but he couldn’t direct his header on target.

There was to be one more chance for Cheshunt to get infront, as a mix up at the back from Bowers saw the ball break to Zack Newton in the box, and his arrowed left footed effort was superbly kept out by Chafer, to ensure Bowers and Pitsea took a valuable point back to Essex.
