Clearly Not So Simple

Kat Badoova reports that over 58,000 pregnancy tests have been showing false positive results

It has been revealed that over 58,000 Clear & Simple pregnancy tests distributed in the UK have been giving false positive results.

Anyone who has used this digital pregnancy test recently, has been advised to check the lot number. The defective lot number is: DM10220170710E.

If the packaging contains this lot number, women are instructed to seek further testing methods.

False results will have a major impact on how women view the Clear & Simple brand.

For a woman, finding out if she is pregnant can be life-changing. If she is buying a pregnancy test that claims to give her the most accurate results (‘Over 99% accurate’, this brand promises), she is expecting nothing less than ‘Over 99%’ accuracy.

These faulty products might not only harm those not wanting a pregnancy, who now believe that they are pregnant; for women who have been trying for a child for a long time, receiving what later turns out to be false information could be devastating.

Clear & Simple’s UK distributor Healthpoint has released a statement: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience and upset that this manufacturing fault may have caused, and we are working closely with the manufacturer to ensure the accuracy of future supplies.”

“Working closely with the manufacturer” does not sound like an adequate response. As a young woman, I will not trust this brand until they assure the public that their products have been adequately tested and they have taken every faulty test package off the shelves.
