Charlton Atheltic Women host Leicester City on Saturday in a crunch match at the bottom of the FA Women’s Championship.

Having come so close to promotion last season, finding themselves bottom of the league will come as a real disappointment to the Addicks.

The south-east London club lost a number of key players over the summer and appear to be feeling the effects this term.

Kicking Starting Charlton’s Campaign

But when fellow strugglers Leicester arrive at The Oakwood this weekend, Ritseeh Mishra’s side will be looking ahead to the fixture as a chance to kick-start their campaign.

Charlton have picked up just two points from their opening five games, although they hold a game in hand over the three sides above them – who are all within reaching difference with a win.

Mishra and his team should be boosted by their previous league outing which saw them hold third-placed Sheffield United to a 2-2 draw away.

The Foxes also picked up a positive result in their last league game by comfortably beating Lewes LFC 3-0.

With both sides producing pleasing performances last time out and just two points separating them at the bottom, Sunday’s result could prove pivotal come the end of the season.

The fixture will take place on Women’s Football Weekend – a campaign created by the FA to encourage supporters to attend a women’s match, with an international break pausing the men’s Premier League and EFL fixtures.

Rising East Player Focus: Charlie Devlin (Charlton)

Charlie Devlin was at the heart of the goals in the Addicks’ hard-fought win away at Sheffield two weeks ago.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United forward was named in the Championship Team of the Week following her display at Olympic Legacy Park.

Mishra will be hoping the 21-year-old can step up and fill the void left behind by last season’s top scorer, Liz Ejupi.
