The Daggers have reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in three seasons after defeating Hartley Wintney on the 24th of October.

The east London side will be taking on Grimsby Town who come into the match in fine defensive form, keeping two consecutive clean sheets with a win over Barrow and draw with Stevenage.

Despite this, the Mariners still sit 16th in League Two with 12 points and a –2 goal differential.

Ian Holloway’s side is without multiple players coming into this match including the likes of James Hanson, James Tilley, Virgil Gomis, and Owura Edwards who are all ruled out of action for the weekend due to injury.

However, Max Wright and Ludvig Ohman are both in contention for a return to the squad.

Players to watch

Mattie Pollock

The 19-year-old central defender has been impressive as of late alongside Luke Waterfall, putting up successive clean sheets against Barrow and Stevenage. A confident defender who possesses excellent passing ability as well, Pollock plays a crucial role in Grimsby’s typically solid backline.

Danny Rose

Coming off an impressive showing in their 1-0 win over Barrow, Rose has been a constant presence in the Grimsby squad since signing in August, being involved in all their victories this season. An experienced hand in midfield, look for Rose to attempt to control possession and dictate the pace of the match.

Montel Gibson

Scoring the winner against Barrow, expect Gibson to be in fine form. Always an energetic presence up top, the 22-year-old forward will be looking to earn a steady spot in the Grimsby side with an impressive performance here.
