Dagenham & Redbridge will be hoping for a win on their travels to Maidenhead after finding themselves dangerously close to the relegation zone five games into the Vanarama National League season.

The Daggers are currently just one point away from the drop and have only registered one win so far this season.

Maidenhead, nicknamed The Magpies, haven’t had the best of starts to the season either and will find themselves below Dagenham & Redbridge should they lose to the east-London side on Tuesday 27th October.

The two teams have previously met on six occasions in the National League with Dagenham & Redbridge winning twice.

The Manager

Alan Devonshire

Devonshire has been manager of Maidenhead since May 2015. This is his second term in charge of the Berkshire side after a first tenure from July 1996 to June 2003.

Since his return, he helped the team win the National League South in the 2016-17 season, beating favourites Ebbsfleet United to the title by two points.

Maidenhead avoided relegation last season after the league was decided on a points-per-game basis with the National League halting the campaign due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. When the last game was played, Maidenhead were sitting in the relegation zone. However, having played one game less than Ebbsfleet United, the point-per-game basis worked in their favour. Devonshire’s side will be hoping to have a more promising campaign this year.

Players to watch

Sam Barrett

The midfielder has been an important figure for The Magpies in front of goal, scoring four of the team’s six goals through the first five games of the season.

Barrett previously played for Maidenhead from 2014 to 2018 before moving to Southend United. He only made 10 appearances due to injury at Southend and eventually re-joined Maidenhead in September of this year.

Angelo Balanta

Balanta is the lone goal scorer for The Daggers in the league this year with a total of two. The forward will be hoping to add to the tally in the next game as his side look for a crucial away win.
