The east London side beat Aldershot Town 6-1 earlier this month, but have since suffered defeats at the hands of AFC Fylde and Sutton United in the ensuing weeks.

An injury-depleted Daggers team that was only able to field four substitutes on the bench against Sutton, took a 1-0 lead through Mitch Brundle’s second-half strike before falling to a quick-fire burst from the visitors, Tommy Wright scoring the eventual winner.

Peter Taylor’s side enters the weekend in 16th place, seven points adrift of the promotion playoff places. Taylor however, will not be travelling with the team to Chorley after undergoing a successful knee operation on Thursday morning.

Chorley welcome Dagenham during a run of good form, picking up seven points in their last three matches, although the Magpies still occupy 23rd place in the table.

The Manager

Jamie Vermiglio has enjoyed a prolonged history with Chorley, making over 200 appearances for the club before joining as a coach, rising to assistant manager and then taking over the full managerial duties in June 2018.

A schoolteacher by day, Vermiglio led his side to promotion last season in stunning fashion, going unbeaten through the first 12 matches of the season before coming up to the National League via a play-off final victory against Spennymoor on penalties.

The playoff victory sent Chorley to the National League for the first time in 29 years, cementing Vermiglio as a Magpies hero, although the task now will be to keep his side up.

Ones to Watch

Chris Holroyd

Thoroughly experienced at the National League level, Holroyd has plied his trade for Macclesfield and Wrexham over the past six seasons before signing for Chorley last summer.

Raised in the Cheltenham youth system, the 33-year old has enjoyed spells at Brighton, Rotherham, and Preston, but found his most consistent form in England’s fifth decision.

A disappointing final season at Wrexham saw Holroyd notch three goals in 26 appearances but the striker has already surpassed that total with five strikes for Chorley this campaign.

Josh O’Keefe

The midfielder joined the Magpies in June 2016 and has gone on to make over 120 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals in the process.

O’Keefe joined the Blackburn academy in 2001 but left the club in 2009 after failing to make any appearances.

A nomadic career took the Republic of Ireland U21 international to Walsall, Lincoln, Southport, Kidderminster, and Altrincham, before finally settling at Chorley where the box-to-box midfielder excelled under Vermiglio in the club’s promotion campaign.

Andrew Teague

The Chorley captain leads his side from the back having played over 300 times for the club since joining in 2011.

Teague has helped Chorley to three promotions and was voted the National League North’s fourth-best player of all time.

A tough-tackling leader, Teague has also displayed a consistent eye for goal, finding the net 30 times in his Chorley career.
