The Daggers have fallen to three consecutive defeats following their 6-1 victory against Aldershot and now find themselves in 16th place in the Vanarama National League table, seven points clear of the relegation zone and seven points adrift of the promotion playoff positions.

Maidenhead travel to east London in stuttering form of their own having lost four out of their last five matches, consigning the Berkshire club to 17th place in the National League, five points clear of the relegation places.

Peter Taylor’s side are still struggling with a devastating injury crisis, leading to the availability of just four substitutes against both Chorley and Sutton United, although in positive news, Charlton loanee Toby Stevenson has signed an extended deal until January.

The Manager

Devonshire has been Maidenhead boss since 2015

Alan Devonshire: The 63-year old Maidenhead boss enjoyed an excellent playing career, making over 350 appearances for West Ham as well as eight caps for England. A legend in east London, Devonshire was ranked fifth on West Ham’s 50 Greatest Ever Players List, announced in August 2018.

His first foray into management saw him act as player-manager for Chippenham Sports in the Conference South before brief stints at Osterley and Brentford Women.

Devonshire then spent seven years at York Road with Maidenhead, eight years with Hampton and Richmond Borough, and five years at Braintree Town.

The West London native got a second chance with Maidenhead in 2015 and has remained at the club ever since, leading the Magpies to promotion to the National League in 2017.

Ones to Watch

Daniel Whitehall

The Rochdale academy graduate bounced around the lower divisions of non-league football before making the jump to America, joining Chatanooga FC in 2017. A mixed time in America saw Whitehall return to England where Maidenhead acquired his services in July.

An astute addition, Whitehall has gone on to lead his side with nine goals in 22 matches, scoring one goal every 116 minutes as he makes his name in the National League.

Jake Cassidy

The striker joined Wolves at the age of 17 in 2010, eventually making 20 appearances before departing permanently for Oldham in 2015.

Cassidy’s time at Molineux saw him enjoy a trio of loan spells at Tranmere Rovers as well as temporary moves to Notts County and Southend United. Following a goalless period at Oldham, the Welsh U21 international spent time at Guiseley and Hartlepool, both ending unsatisfactorily.

Still just 26, Cassidy has enjoyed a new lease on life at York Road, scoring six goals this season while looking much closer to the player Wolves thought they had signed in 2010.

Shamir Fenelon

Fenelon joined Maidenhead in May after three years at Aldershot in which the attacker scored 19 times in 90 appearances. The 25-year old rose through the Brighton youth system but managed just two appearances for the Seagulls before departing for Crawley Town.

While at Brighton, Fenelon embarked on a number a loan moves including a brief spell at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, making four appearances without scoring.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international has managed three goals in limited minutes this season as he looks to rebuild his career at York Road.
