The Daggers netted four times in a convincing victory over an out-of-form Wealdstone side, at The Chigwell Construction Stadium. Dagenham move up to 11th and now sit only three points outside the play-offs.

First Half Masterclass

It only took Dagenham five minutes to get themselves on the score sheet. Defender Harry Phipps got on the end of Tyreke Johnson’s cross to glance home a well-placed header past Sam Howes in the Wealdstone goal.

Stones midfielder, Tarryn Allarakhia, almost gifted the hosts a second when his back pass had too much weight on it and evaded his goalkeeper Howes, before the ball missed the post by a matter of inches.

With 20 minutes on the clock the Daggers doubled their lead. Junior Morias struck a superb free kick into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Morias almost re-enacted the goal he scored moments before with another free kick, which this time narrowly missed the same corner his previous effort nestled in.

Daggers’ skipper Matt Robinson almost added a third on the stroke of half time when he dragged his shot wide after good build up play involving Morias and Mo Sagaf.

Second Half

Wealdstone produced a fightback in the second half. Olufela Olomola produced a good block from goalscorer Phipps to deny Olomola a route back into the match.

Midway through the second half, JJ Walker ensured that the three points would be with the home side when he broke from his own half into the Stones box and calmly slotted past Howes.

Daggers’ midweek goalscorer Myles Weston was inches away from his second in as many games, but his curling effort whistled past the post.

Elliot Justham’s clean sheet was ruined though, as in the last minute of stoppage time Sam Habergham scored a mere consolation.

McMahon’s Very Pleased

Daryl McMahon felt his side were in control from first to last minute: “I am delighted with the performance; it was a strong performance and was very controlled I thought we played some good stuff.”

What’s Next For Dagenham & Redbridge?

Next up, a trip to Maidenhead in the FA Cup first round.
