Jack Giordmaina reports from the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship…

Last week the Copper Box played host to the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship, which saw Nicolas Dalby defend his Cage Warriors Welterweight title against Mohsen Bahari, despiteĀ the Danish fighter struggling in the opening rounds.

Rachael Hunt, the press officer at the Copper Box Arena, spoke of the importance of the venue bringing these extreme sports to the Olympic Park.

“It is important that we bring sports like the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship to the Copper Box as it proves that we can attract elite level championships from across all sports and we feel that extreme sports are just as valuable as sports we saw in the Olympics,” she said.

One of the main fights saw Dalby extend his unbeaten run as a pro to 13, to secure his first title defence of the Welterweight championship against Bahari.

However, Bahari gave the defending champion a hard time at the beginning of the fight and dished out plenty of punishment throughout the first round.

But the momentum began to swing back into the direction of Dalby in the second and third rounds. Dalby was able to knock Bahari to the ground after a series of punches and he continued to attack himĀ until he started to bleed.

As the rounds wore on, there was only going to be one winner as Dalby was able to keep chipping away at Bahari who became tired and worn out from the beating that he was receiving.

This became more noticeable as his punches became more laboured, allowing Dalby the time to easily defend against him.

In the end, with a well-balanced attack of strikes and a knockdown, Dalby earned the unanimous victory, wining by a score of 50-45.
