British Singer/Songwriter David Gray will finally be taking to the stage at east London’s O2 on May 27 after a lengthy rescheduling due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Gray heading out on tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his hit album ‘White Ladder’, which has sold over seven million copies to date.

There has also been an extended edition released of the legendary album to commemorate the special occasion. The album continues to remain in the top 30 best selling British albums of all time, so it is only right for Gray to perform it over 20 years on in its entirety, with all the original band members and equipment.

The Cheshire born singer released three albums prior to White Ladder, which featured more acoustic folk and alternative rock sounds. Even though the album had such great success, it did take a while to find its feet.

The initial release of White Ladder was in 1998 through Gray’s own record label but failed to make the charts – it was then re-released in 2000 and debuted at number 69 on the UK Albums Chart.

It wasn’t until 2001 that it eventually climbed to number one and in particular the single on the album “Babylon” brought Gray success and worldwide fame. The album also includes popular singles “This Year’s Love”, “Please Forgive Me” and “Sail Away”.

In an interview with the Daily Star, Gray said, “Its success came from nowhere, and it changed how the business thought about what music should be. Since then, there have been lots of artists who’ve taken it on and done their own thing.” The album has influenced artists like Ed Sheeran, James Blunt and James Bay, to name a few.
