This weekend sees the start of the new competitive FIFA season, as the first event of the new game cycle FIFA 20 kicks off in Bucharest from the 8th to 10th November.

This is the first of six FUT Champions Cups that will take place over the season, that help contribute to the FIFA pyramid.

Following a grueling qualification process held at the start of October, 32 players across the globe qualified for each of the two consoles, Xbox and PlayStation.

Competition Layout

The event kicks off with five rounds of ‘Swiss’, which matches players on the same console, also with the same record. A player is knocked out of the event after losing three games in Swiss.

Following the Swiss round, the successful players move into the knockout brackets across each console, leading to a final on each respective console. The winners go on to play each other in the cross console grand final to crown the event winner.

Who To Look Out For

Essex based Hashtag United will be hoping that their self-discovered star Harry Hesketh, competitively known as Hashtag Harry will be able to secure his first event victory of his career, with Hashtag United looking for their first triumph since 2017.

Hesketh has transferred console for the new season moving over to PlayStation from Xbox.

PlayStation is also the chosen console for West Ham player, WestHamYago.

The Argentine whose real name is Gabriel Fawaz, will be looking for triumph in the season and his first event for West Ham, having come so close to victory last season finishing runner up in the eNations World Cup.

The event will also have special meaning for Donovan Hunt, better known as Tekkz.

The 18-year-old Englishman has won the season opener in both of his last two seasons on the scene.

The first was in Bucharest, where Tekkz was an unknown 16-year-old who defied the odds.

Two years later he is now returning as one of the best in the world and going into the Cup having signed the largest deal in FIFA esports history with Fnatic.
