Charlton have endured a disappointing first half of the season heading into the festive period, having picked up just five wins from 20 League games.

The Addicks currently sit in 17th place in the League One table, seven points above the relegation zone after a poor run of form. They are also winless in their last five league outings.

Charlton Owner, Thomas Sandgaard said of Garner’s exit: “We would like to thank Ben for his hard work and commitment to the job. In his time at Charlton, the club have achieved some stand-out results, including big wins against some of the better teams in this league”.

In the meantime, First Team coach Anthony Hayes will step into the Caretaker Manager role until a replacement has been decided.

Hayes was promoted to the role of First Team coach in the summer due to his success in the U23s set-up and he will be supported by Charlton U18s Coach and former club captain Jason Pearce.

Speaking to CharltonTV Hayes explained: “My complete focus is on trying to help the players and giving them real clarity in how we want to look with and without the ball. That’s my first and foremost priority”.
