The 23-year-old Englishman has been called up as a replacement for young Somerset batsman Tom Banton, who has been named as a reserve player for England’s upcoming white ball tour of South Africa.

Big Bash Debut

This will be Lawrence’s first experience of playing in a franchise T20 tournament, and will be in the same team as fellow Englishmen Tom Banton and Lewis Gregory. The East London man will also be joined along with other big names from the cricketing world including Morne Morkel, Marnus Labuschagne and captain Chris Lynn.

“It Will Be Enormous”

The Essex batsman was left feeling delighted as he reflects on being given the opportunity to represent Brisbane Heat this winter.

Dan Lawrence told Essex’s official website: “I’m looking forward to meeting everyone at the Heat and working with the lads to get the team off to a good start.

“The BBL is a bit of a staple diet for us at home during our winter and it will be enormous to be a part of the League there this summer,” admitted Lawrence.

Fellow Essex star Peter Siddle will also be taking part in the tournament in his native country; the 35-year-old seam bowler will be representing the Adelaide Strikers, while fellow Australia and Essex teammate Adam Zampa will be donning his usual Melbourne Stars shirt for the tournament.

Melbourne Stars First Up For Lawrence

Lawrence and his teammates will get their campaign underway on 11th December with a clash against the Melbourne Stars in Canberra.
