FA Away Days

Leyton Orient and Dagenham &  Redbridge have both been handed away ties in the fourth qualifying stage of the FA Cup. Orient will travel to Maidstone, whilst Dagenham & Redbridge will travel to Boreham Wood. Daniel Walker and George Benson report.

The ties are scheduled to be played on the weekend of the 20th of October.

The winners of each tie will receive £25,000 cash as well as qualifying for the 1st round of the tournament.

Last Season

The East London sides met at this stage of the tournament last season with Orient coming out on top over the course of two legs. The Chigwell Construction stadium hosted a 0-0 draw between the two East London rivals, whilst Orient won the reverse tie 1-0 at The Breyer group stadium. Zimbabwe international, Macauley Bonne scored the goal to separate the two sides.

Orient went on to the 1st round of the tournament but crashed out following a 2-1 defeat away to Gillingham.

Previous meetings

Orient have already travelled to the Gallagher Stadium this season, winning 2-1 with Josh Koroma and Marvin Ekpiteta bagging the all-important goals. Justin Edinburgh’s side have enjoyed a fine start to the National League and will look to impress in the FA cup tie.

The Daggers have also taken on The Wood already this season, with the two sides facing each other at the start of the season. Angelo Balanta scored the only goal in a 1-0 win for last year’s play-off finalists, whilst Wolves loanee, Ben Goodliffe was shown a straight red on his debut in the match. Ironically the central defender will be suspended for this tie after his second dismissal of the season against Ebbsfleet in the league.
