Martin Voller reports from a close-fought cup contest…

Brentwood Town joint-manager Adam Flanagan argued that there was little between his side and Biggleswade Town following their FA Trophy first qualifying round draw.

He claimed that spectators would not have known the Essex side are a league below their opponents.

The Blues will face the Southern Premier League Division side again on Wednesday after Kelvin Bossman cancelled out Sherwin Stanley’s opener for Brentwood but the joint-boss insists his side will not fear the replay.

He said: “I don’t mean this in any disrespectful way but I don’t think there was anything today to make me fear them.

“I think probably their fitness levels were a little bit better, in the last ten minutes they had a few more chances, I don’t think we were keeping the ball well enough, but if anyone was watching I don’t think they would have said that we are the team in the league below and they are the team above.”

The replay will be held at Rowley Park, home of St Neots Town FC, after Biggleswade’s floodlights were damaged in a recent fire.

Shad Ngandu and Danny Dafter are available for selection after completing their suspensions but Wednesday will come too early for striker Courtney White who has been out injured since Brentwood’s 2-0 defeat to Ware three weeks ago.

However, Flanagan remains optimistic about his side’s chances: “It was a very fair and even match and I think if we go there with the right attitude and we apply ourselves right it will probably be another even match at their place.”
