Early Life

Pierrette Simuene was born in Gloucester on the 13th July 2001. She then moved to Enfield at a young age. She moved around a few schools, but it was at Freezywater St George’s Primary School where she found her passion for sport. Pierrette then started playing for her school team in many sports including netball and track and field. She continued playing for her school netball team and was winning cups and tournaments.

Big Decisions

As Pierrette moved into high school she kept playing as many sports as she could. However, as her talent was improving, she had to make a decision. Due to injuries and the high intensity of netball and track and field Pierrette had to choose between them. She decided on the latter as it was something she loved doing but still played netball occasionally.

Track and Field

Running Track

As Pierrette dedicated more time to athletics she started to specialise in sprinting and competing for her county. Winning a silver medal in the 100m with a time of 12.88 seconds was one highlight for Pierrette. She was also fifth fastest at the Under 17’s level. Also, being the youngest out of her competitors to run 200m and get her personal best of 27.1 seconds was another highlight for her. However, after some hardship last year Pierrette realised that athletics wasn’t for her and her love and passion for netball came back.

Return to Netball

The UEL Netball Team in action against University Campus Suffolk

She has cemented her place in the UEL team over the last season and a half playing various position thanks to her athletic past. Last season the netball team won club of year at the end of season awards. They have started this season in the best possible way unbeaten in eight games with Pierrette at the heart of this team both defensively with her jumping ability to block the ball and her fast-paced movement of the ball gets to the attacking players quickly. She has also joined her local netball club Woodford Warriors this year and looks for a successful year ahead.
