West Ham have made a fantastic start to the season. David Moyes’ side are building on the successes they had in the previous campaign and currently sit 4th in the Premier League table as well as being through to the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup and the Europa League Round of 16.

Fans were not able to fully enjoy some of the great moments had in the 2020/21 season due to the pandemic but now, with fans back in the stadium and West Ham continuing to play well, there is a feel-good factor around the club.

Terrific Time

The move to the London Stadium has had well documented challenges but with the team performing on the pitch, the Olympic Park is feeling more like home.

Jackson, a West Ham season ticket holder, explains in the interview about some of the good times there has been already this season. He says, “the Leicester game in particular, I really thought that was the best atmosphere at the London Stadium I had been too. That was a great night.”

The match against The Foxes was certainly a memorable one, the Hammers won 4-1 and Michail Antonio broke West Ham’s Premier League goalscoring record and celebrated lifting a cardboard cut-out of himself.

There have been other special occasions such as beating Liverpool and Man City 5-3 penalties on top of the European nights in East London.

“After Liverpool I was on cloud nine, beating City in a penalty shootout – I nearly passed out after that one,” he joked.

Predictions

There is hope for more special days to come. Smith and Jackson went on to discuss the future, such as the transfer window and their predictions for the rest of the season.

Both were in agreement West Ham won’t win the Europa League but “a quarter-final would show great progression”. Jackson added a semi-final or final “would be a dream.”

Regarding the huge match against Tottenham later this month in the last eight of the Carabao Cup, Jackson says “Tottenham have had a shakey start to say the least, I like to think we win that game.”

However, Smith believes it will go to penalties.

“I don’t think my heart could take that,” Jackson exclaims.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be setting for the Carabao Cup quarter-final with West Ham.

David Moyes’ side will be hoping to continue on the upwards trajectory there has been since his re-appointment as manager. It remains to be seen whether West Ham can better last season, when they finished in 6th place, but they are in a great position to do so.
