It’s safe to say that it was a nightmare Big Blue Wednesday for UEL Hockey as a whole. Both the men’s and women’s games ended up being postponed at the last minute.

Hapless Finish

UEL women’s Hockey were looking to fight for a win against Royal Veterinary College 2nds , but just before they were due to travel to the away ground, the Furzefield Centre, it was confirmed that the game was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Later on as the men’s team were warming up for their vital game against promotion rivals University of Essex on home turf at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis centre, defender, Rohm Reyes went down badly resulting in what has now been confirmed as ligament damage, leading to the game being called off.

Impending Fixtures

UEL will be back training hard on Monday to ensure they’re ready for their next games, with the men’s team missing centre back Reyes for the foreseeable future.

UEL men’s currently have 10 points and are 3rd in the league. Their next game is against Queen Mary Men’s 3rd (Bart’s and the London SMD) on Wednesday the 6th of February where they will be looking to push for promotion once again.

Meanwhile UEL Women’s sit second from the bottom in the table with just four points. They will look to win their next game on the 6th of February which is against bottom of the table, University of Hertfordshire to secure safety from a relegation battle.

Looking To Win

All involved were disappointed that the games this week could not go ahead as both teams were ready and up for the fight to win their respective matches. They will move on from this now and look ahead to their next games where both teams will be playing to win.
