Alex Smith is a West Ham fan who studies Sports Journalism at University of East London. He thinks West Ham will finish 6th or 7th and the standout player for them has been Tomas Soucek.

In relation to David Moyes, Alex believes he has proven himself now and is bringing in the players that he wants.

What are your thoughts on the season so far for West Ham?

“Maybe we will get Europa League. We have brought in a lot of good players and we are solid defensively, attack well and the transfers Moyes has brought in, have all done very well.”

Who has been the standout player for West Ham and why?

“Tomas Soucek because he forms a good partnership with Declan Rice and has scored a lot of goals for a defensive midfielder. He is also a likeable character.”

What are your opinions on David Moyes now?

“He has proved himself as he has done very well, and I think he will possibly win manager of the year.”

Where do you think you will finish and why?

“6th or 7th. We don’t have enough quality to make Champions League but we are having a good season so we can get Europe.”

What do you think has been the difference between this season and last season?

“Bringing in Moyes and all the players that he wanted and giving Moyes time to build a team.”

What is the strongest/weakest part of the team and why?

“Good question. Strongest part is the defensive organisation as we have good defenders and Moyes set us up really well. Weakest part – decision making and attacking players as sometimes we have the chances and don’t finish.”

Alex was questioned about the season because it was interesting to get his take on the season so far for West Ham, given that West Ham are doing quite well, and he watches them thoroughly.
