West Ham United Women are preparing to take on Chelsea Women searching for another three points.

Winning Form

The Hammers will go in to the game on the back of a 2-1 victory away to Everton Ladies last weekend. Scotland international Jane Ross scored the first and Switzerland international Alisha Lehmann scored the winner for the Irons.

Chelsea on the other hand, beat Fiorentina Femminile 6-0 in Italy on Wednesday night in the Women’s Champions League Round of 16 to send them in to the quarter-finals. While in the league, the Blues saw off Liverpool Women 1-0 last Sunday, thanks to a stunning overhead kick from Magdalena Eriksson.

The Irons currently sit in eighth place in the WSL with two wins, one draw and three losses. This leaves them on seven points and a win can see them go level on points with the West London side.

The Opposition

The Blues have struggled to get going in the league this season. Although they sit in fourth place, they are already eight points behind league leaders Arsenal. The West Londoners have already drawn four games this season, which is more than any other side in the league.

Chelsea manager, Emma Hayes, will be hoping her side can continue their momentum from their wins on Sunday and Wednesday into the game this weekend.

Familiar Faces

It will be a surprise for Hammers trio Claire Rafferty, Gilly Flaherty and Becky Spencer who will line up against their former club who they achieved so much with. This includes a domestic double and reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League last season.

This Sunday’s game between the east and west London sides kicks-off at 3pm at Rush Green, Romford.
