Irons Take On Saints

Harry Briffa reports on the Hammers' aiming to continue their fine form

West Ham will look to make it three Premier League wins in a row as they travel to Southampton this Sunday.

Red-Hot Hammers

The Hammers are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions, coming off a 2-1 win over Anderlecht to secure their place in the Europa Conference League knockout round. West Ham have also turned their form around in the league, beating Fulham 3-1 last Sunday at the London Stadium to go up to 13th in the table.

After a promising start in August, Southampton have lost each of their four games since the start of Autumn, sitting only a point above the relegation zone. The Saints come into the game off the back of a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City.

Bowen’s On Fire

Jarrod Bowen will be hoping to continue his goal-scoring run this Sunday. After just two goals in his first 10 appearances this season, Bowen has now scored three in his last four games.

West Ham manager David Moyes spoke about Bowen’s upturn in form: “He’s much closer to what he was last year and he looks a threat every time he plays.”

Team News

West Ham’s main injury concerns heading into the game are at centre back. Angelo Ogbonna had to be subbed off on Thursday due to a tight hamstring. Craig Dawson also was replaced due to a dead leg but Moyes believes he should be ok to play this Sunday.

Striker Michail Antonio could be available for selection after missing Thursday’s match due to illness. Winger Maxwell Cornet and defender Nayef Aguard both remain side-lined with calf and ankle injuries respectively.

Southampton have no fresh injury news heading into Sunday. Right-back Tino Livramento and midfielder Roméo Lavia remain out with long-term injuries.
