West Ham United women will be looking to get their third win of the season against Birmingham City women on Sunday. A win for the Hammers could see them move up to sixth in the table.

The Irons go in to the game having suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea women at Rush Green a fortnight ago before the international break.

However, with two weeks to reflect on their performance against the West Londoners, the Hammers will be hoping to gain all three points this weekend.

West Ham currently sit in eighth place after seven games in the Women’s Super League, having won two, drawn one and lost four of those games.

Inconsistency

Finding form has been a real issue for the Irons so far this season. After collecting all three points the Hammers tend to suffer a setback in their next game.

Their current form reads W/L/L/W/L.

Birmingham City also suffered defeat in their last game before the international break. The Blues took on high flying Arsenal, who sit top of the league with maximum points, but the Gunners were too strong for the Blues and won the game 3-1.

The Blues currently sit third in the WSL, having played as many games as the Hammers. Birmingham have won four, drawn one and lost two games, but sit eight points off league leaders Arsenal.

International Returners

This week saw a couple of players return from international duty for the Irons. Switzerland international Alisha Lehmann returns after suffering heartbreak in her World Cup qualification campaign against The Netherlands, as her side lost 4-1 on aggregate to miss out on the finals.

While striker Jane Ross also returns from international duty with Scotland, after her side’s 1-0 defeat to the United States of America.

When And Where

This Sunday’s game kicks-off at 2pm at the Automated Technology Group Stadium.
