Netflix recently aired a news show called #BlackAF. Yes you read the title correctly, but it’s not the title that has made the show a hot topic, it’s the cast and content.
The show’s about a rich black family living in Los Angeles. Kenya Barris, who plays a fictionalised version of himself, not only created this show but also Black-ish, and playing opposite him as Joya Barris is Rashida Jones who had a lead role in Netflix success Parks and Recreation.
Although loved by some, on Twitter the show has been criticised for the fact that the actors – instead of being #BlackAF – are not black enough, especially Rashida Jones!
The show has also been criticised for being unrealistic: with the behaviour of this ‘black’ family either inaccurate, or exaggerated.
