Leyton Orient have parted company with Manager Kenny Jackett following the O’s 2-0 loss to Bristol Rovers at The Breyer Group Stadium.

Leyton Orient released a statement shortly after the defeat to Bristol Rovers last week confirming Jackett’s dismissal. It read, “The Club can confirm that it has parted company with Manager Kenny Jackett with immediate effect”.

Kenny Jackett was hired by the O’s in May of 2021 after he was sacked by Portsmouth two months prior. He took over from former O’s midfielder Jobi McAnuff, who ended last season as the Interim Manager following Ross Embleton’s sacking in February 2021.

Jackett’s assistant manager Joe Gallen has also left the club, following Jackett’s dismissal.

Four Defeats On The Bounce

The defeat to Rovers proved to be the final straw for Jackett, as it was Orient’s fourth loss in succession. The O’s have not been able to pick up a win since early December and now sit 18th in the Sky Bet League Two table after previously sitting in seventh after a 4-1 win at home to Swindon in that same month, picking up only three points from a possible 30 since.

Former Orient striker Matt Harrold has been given the role of Interim Manager and took charge of the O’s in their 1-0 loss to relegation rivals Carlisle on Sunday in what was a must win game for Orient in their fight for survival.

It has not been made clear yet who will permanently replace Kenny Jackett. However former Peterborough Manager Darren Ferguson is the bookmaker’s favourite to become the next O’s boss.
