League Title for UEL

Pedro Guaratto reports

UEL’s futsal first team celebrate a triumphant league championship at the weekend, gaining automatic promotion in the process.

With just one point needed for Trevor Tamatave’s side to secure the league against Queen Mary on Sunday, the Blues saw off their opposition and came out 10-6 victors at the end of a thrilling tie.

UEL ended up making light work of the league, winning all but one of their games, and reaching double figures for goals in nine out of their ten league fixtures, producing numerous memorable moments along the way including this piece of skill by Harman Sandhu.

Speaking after the East Londoner’s magnificent display, James Rene commented on what it meant for him to win a trophy in his final season with the club.

“It feels great! It feels even better knowing that I’m leaving here with a league title in my name.”

However, the team’s achievement didn’t come as too much as a surprise for the Blues’ skipper, who predicted a promising season from the very start.

“I was very impressed. I mentioned in the beginning of the year after the trial I felt that we would do great.”
