Millwall’s turbulent season continues at The Den on Saturday with a 3pm kick off against fellow league strugglers Ipswich Town.

Ipswitch, recently but unsurprisingly sacked their manager, Paul Hurst, after one win in 14 league matches, meaning Ipswich remaining rooted to the bottom of the league table.

All to Play For

The fans, as well as Neil Harris’ team, will be fired up for this encounter following Millwall’s much needed 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic on Tuesday.

After grabbing only their third league win of the season, the Lions will be looking to claim their third successive league home win, something they haven’t done since April.

Ipswich come into this crucial match desperate for a win, as this has been their worst start to a season after 14 games since the 2009-2010 season.

One thing that may give them confidence for their visit to The Den is that Millwall have only registered one win against them in their previous eight meetings, something Harris’ Lions will want to put right.

An Impressed Manager

Although results have been hard to come by for the Lions, Harris is impressed by what he has seen from his team in recent weeks. Speaking to the official Millwall website the Lions manager said: “We’ve made 48 chances in the last three games, that doesn’t just come from centre forwards and wide players. That stems from the whole team, those who have seen the last four games will have seen proper Millwall performances, as good as I’ve seen for a long time.”

Millwall striker Lee Gregory will be looking to capitalize on Ipswich’s leaky defence as they have already conceded 22 goals this season. Gregory has five goals already this season and with Ipswich conceding two or more in their previous five matches, Gregory will look to raise his tally.

Millwall will need to show the same belief captain Steve Morison showed against Wigan when he netted the winner with six minutes remaining. Harris spoke fondly of his skipper after Tuesday’s game to the official Millwall website saying: “When you need your captain and leader Moro came up with the winner, we’re really pleased for him.”

Change In Suffolk

In a dramatic turn of events in the last Ipswich Town decided to part ways with manager Paul Hurst after only five months at the helm, following their 2-0 defeat to Leeds on Wednesday. Head of player development and coaching Bryan Klug will lead the Tractor Boys out as caretaker manager.

Trevor Chalobah, brother to England international Nathaniel Chalobah, has been one of the standout players for Ipswich in this dismal season, he will be hoping to add to his two goals already this term.

Going into this huge clash at The Den, the Lions have conceded one or more in all home fixtures, while Ipswich have conceded one or more in all away games, meaning goals are a sure thing for this crunch clash on Saturday afternoon.
