Millwall welcome West London rivals Queen Park Rangers this Saturday evening at the Den (7:45pm K.O). It is an important game for both London clubs, who see themselves sitting 14th and 18th respectively.

This Week

Millwall come into this game in dreadful form after losing 1-0 at home to Derby County on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the Lions winless streak being stretched to seven games. The afternoon was mainly damaged due to a minority of Millwall fans who booed the Black Lives Matter movement as both sets of players began to take the knee. It had been the first time that Millwall fans were reintroduced back into the ground and the South London club expressed their huge disappointment with their behaviour. Gary Rowett’s men will be looking to end their barren run with an important victory in front of their fans.

QPR also come into this game on a low after losing 2-0 away to Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon, making it three consecutive defeats on the bounce.

The West London club will be looking to finally get back to winning ways on Tuesday as they hope to be inspired by the club’s willingness to still participate in the BLM movement. The Hoops are aware of the animosity they could potentially receive by the home supporters. However, Mark Warburton’s side will be focused on getting the three points and propelling themselves up the EFL Championship table.

“We’ve Got To Work Incredibly Hard”

Millwall manager Gary Rowett talks about what is required for his side to push up the EFL Championship table.

“We’ve got to work incredibly hard, we’ve got to have complete belief in what we’re doing, we’ve got to focus on what we can control on the pitch,” said Rowett. “We have to start getting results because we certainly don’t want to start sliding down the league slowly because we have lost that consistency.”

Rowett admitted: “We have done it before and we’re still in a better position than we were when we came in last year, but essentially we’re disappointed with the recent run and we need to arrest that quickly.”

Recent Meetings

Millwall have got the superior head to head record over their West London rivals Queen Park Rangers with the Lions winning 31, drawing 23 and losing 22 in 86 matches.

The Lions have not beaten QPR in their last four encounters, losing three and drawing one in the process. Their last victory over the West London outfit came back in December 2017 when they beat the Hoops 1-0 at the Den.

A victory for the visitors on Tuesday evening would give Warburton’s men a huge boost in confidence going into the festive period, but they will have to wary of a hungry and determined Millwall side who will be desperately hoping to end a run of seven games without a win in front of 2000 returning supporters.
