As we approach the season break for the World Cup in Qatar, I’ll be looking at the uninspired start to the Premier League by the mighty West Ham. They sit 16th in the table and are only avoiding a relegation spot by goal difference, this is a reflection on David Moyes’s predictable style of play

After making 8 signings in the summer window including the likes of, Gianluca Scamacca, Lucas Paqueta & Nayef Aguerd, fans were dreaming of qualifying for European football, but that dream has quickly turned into a nightmare. After spending a total of £160 million this summer, West Ham fans aren’t too happy with their clubs’ performances and there voicing their thoughts on the team.

I spoke to avid West Ham fan Harry, who has labelled his team as “pathetic” and “embarrassing”. He isn’t the only one as thousands of fans across twitter and other social media platforms have expressed their feelings by demanding manager David Moyes to get sacked from his job.

I feel that the  fans are too harsh on managers these days and the players must take some responsibility. In the modern era managers seem to take the blame but it was only last season West Ham fans were praising their manager for the great job he had done.

With the World Cup taking place for the first time ever mid-season, this gives struggling teams such as West Ham an opportunity to regroup and strengthen during this period. It’s still early to the season and a strong start after the break could be the saving grace for West Ham fans.
