Carlisle United vs Leyton Orient Match Preview

Orient travel up to the very north of England, just eight miles away from the Scottish border on Saturday to take on an in-form Carlisle United.

Orient’s Winless Run

Richie Wellens’ team travel to Cumbria with a point to prove after last weekend’s goalless draw with Northampton Town stretched Orient’s winless run to three games. The O’s struggled for creativity against The Cobblers and failed to take advantage of their numerical advantage following Ben Fox’s red card shortly after the start of the second half.

Orient were without the influential Idris El Mizouni in the centre of midfield for Saturday’s draw after he pulled up suddenly during training in the week prior to the game. Richie Wellens will hope that his injury is not too serious and that his return can mark a turnaround in the O’s fortunes.

Carlisle United

The Blues have lost just once this season and are currently on a nine-match unbeaten run stretching back to the end of August. Paul Simpson’s team eased past Doncaster at home last weekend thanks to two goals from Jack Stretton and one from Callum Guy. Remarkably, the Doncaster result was Carlisle’s biggest league win for nearly two years.

Carlisle United currently sit sixth in League Two and a win could see them rise as high as third if other results go their way.

Player To Watch

Kristian Dennis has scored seven goals in 12 games for The Blues this season and the former St Mirren forward will be keen to add to his tally this weekend.

The experienced striker missed last Saturday’s victory over Doncaster with a hamstring injury, but manager Paul Simpson is hopeful that Dennis will recover in time to feature against The O’s at the weekend.
