Leyton Orient Women kick off the New Year with Stevenage Ladies the visitors to Mile End Stadium in the FA Women’s National League this Sunday.

Orient currently reside in fourth position in the FA Women’s National League Division One South East table. They have played 10 games collecting a total of 18 points.

In their last match before Christmas, Chris Brayford’s side were in Isthmian-Cup action and defeated Worthing Ladies 6-1 in a seven-goal thriller.

Goals from Rebecca Hirst, Chanel Richards, Suaila Cardoso Queni and a stunning hat-trick from Lisa Holmback saw the O’s progress to the semi-final stage.

Their most recent league game saw them travel to Norwich City Ladies on 25th November,

a single goal from left winger Sophie Le Marchand led the O’s to a 1-0 victory.

With seven goals in their past two matches, the O’s possess a goal difference of five. The contribution of goals from Hayley Barton, Le Marchand and Holmback have played a key role in Orient’s healthy league position.

At the turn of the year, Orient have racked up five league wins, three draws and two losses and will be hoping to add to their win ratio this weekend.

Fresh Start

Visitors Stevenage Ladies, sit ninth in the division having taken 10 points from as many league games with a goal difference of -13.

In their last game before the break, Stevenage faced Royston Town Ladies winning 7-2 in the County Cup.

Regards the league, their most recent game saw them lose 1-0 against Ipswich Town Ladies following Kerry Simpson’s goal.

Following this defeat, the Hertfordshire side have three wins, six losses and one draw to their name this season.

However, Stevenage will be hoping to upset fourth place Orient with a good result that would boost confidence going forward into 2019.

Eyes For Goal

Orient winger Sophie Le Marchand lies second in the O’s Golden Boot race with five goals in 15 games. Her fellow winger, Hayley Barton, leads the chart with nine goals from 14 matches and both players will be looking to keep up their good form this Sunday.

As for Stevenage, Amy Maxwell and Nicole Emmings have bagged a respectable amount of goals with 24 appearances between them.

Maxwell has managed five goals from 14 appearances with Emmings hitting six in 10 matches this season.
